 The first Rajdhani Express was the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, which began its service on March 1, 1969, connecting the two major cities with high-speed, air-conditioned travel. The first journey, flagged off from New Delhi to Howrah, completed the 1,450 km route in 17 hours and 20 minutes. पहली राजधानी एक्सप्रेस हावड़ा-नई दिल्ली राजधानी एक्सप्रेस थी, जिसकी सेवा 1 मार्च, 1969 को शुरू हुई थी और यह दो प्रमुख शहरों को तेज़ गति, वातानुकूलित यात्रा से जोड़ती थी। नई दिल्ली से हावड़ा के लिए रवाना हुई पहली यात्रा ने 1,450 किलोमीटर का रास्ता 17 घंटे 20 मिनट में पूरा किया।
